BIOLOGY
The grade 8 course introduces you to the beginning of cells and microbes, the processes that shape our world, and the wonders of how matter behaves. Interspersed in the lessons are various types of quizzes or assignments you must complete per unit. You often are assigned experiments which teach you things about how life works.
GRADE 8
GRADE 9
GRADE 10
GRADE 11 LIFE SCIENCES
GRADE 12 ANATOMY/PHYSIOLOGY
The grade 9 course embraces a range of topics including learning from the microscopic level. Microscopic studies will enhance your knowledge of what the world is built of. You will also learn about the macroscopic parts of the world, where you learn about studying reproduction and contribution of reproduction to the variety of life on Earth.
The grade 10 course adds on to the studies of genetics. Genetics is the foundation for the diversity of all living things. You also resume your progress in learning all the human body systems. That includes: the digestive system, the respiratory system, the reproductive system, the nervous system, and the circulatory system. Some of the key structures of the course is photosynthesis, cell structures, DNA, and environmental management.
The Biology courses normally go up to grade 10, and moves on to grade 11 Life Sciences.
You go deeper into the microscopic world as you learn more about viruses, a human's self defense immune system, and pathogens, to antibiotics. You will also learn about vertebrate animals and invertebrate animals and dig in deeper towards their differences.
The following course: "Anatomy and Physiology 12" is a newly named course based upon a course once called Biology 12. While the concepts and content may look the same like the previous course, the intents of this course have been adapted to keep up with the rapidly expanding biological knowledge.
